This project for the Carillo Gil Museum in Mexico City is one in their series of lecturas (readings) of the museum collection. The collection is rich in works by the Mexican muralists, but rather than the heroic, social-realist works these artists are famous for, with their criticism of the bourgeoisie, the collection features easel paintings created for a bourgeois clientele. These paintings represent the private side of these artists’ public practice. The exhibition design made use of wood-paneled and coloured walls, brise-soleils, and modern furniture to define a series of modern domestic interiors.
