This work is a curated installation similar to the Carrillo Gil collection project (Public Practice | Private Lives). This installation, created for the Archives of American Art Gallery at the Smithsonian American Art Museum is based on research in the archive’s Esther McCoy papers. The four vitrines in the installation contain a selection of 8 x 10 photographs and documents that show different twentieth century spanning techniques developed by architects and engineers like Felix Candela, Buckminster Fuller and Pier Luigi Nervi. Nervi’s structural lattice pattern from his 1956 Palazzo dello Sport is traced on the gallery’s ceiling.
